City of Fairfield to carry a business equipment loan for the community

Reasons: I don’t believe that the City of Fairfield should be in the business “equipment”  loan business for three reasons:

1. There are SBA 7A loans that have easy loan requirements and we can create relationships with our local banks to work closely with our small businesses through the application process.

2.  It doesn’t make sense that the business owner can take out a business equipment loan that is a UCC lien filing on the building.  If the business owner fails to pay the business loan, the building has a lien and the City of Fairfield is now owns the piece of business equipment?

3.  In my view, All of the $500,000 should be directed to the business facade revitalization program which is increasing the appeal and energy of downtown Fairfield
