Most people never think about where wastewater goes after it leaves their home or business, and that is a sign the system is working. Behind that reliability is the Fairfield-Suisun Sewer District (FSSD), which collects and treats wastewater for Fairfield and Suisun City. As a Fairfield councilmember, I also serve on the FSSD Board of Directors.
Why the FSSD Board Matters
The board makes decisions that affect every household and business in our service area, including:
- Rates that residents and businesses pay
- Capital projects to maintain and upgrade treatment facilities and pipelines
- Environmental protection for Suisun Marsh and the waterways that receive treated water
- Long-term planning so our infrastructure keeps up with growth

My Role
Since joining the council, I have attended 27 FSSD Board of Directors meetings. I have toured district facilities, joined the district’s 75th anniversary celebration with the community, and taken part in advocacy for federal support of local infrastructure.
This work is not glamorous, but it is essential. Every new home, restaurant and employer in Fairfield depends on wastewater capacity. Keeping rates fair while investing in reliable infrastructure is one of the quiet responsibilities I take seriously.
